IT'S NOT AN EASY JOB

Setting up a CCoE is not an easy job. Due to its central role in the IT organisation, multiple specialisations are required. Furthermore, helping and facilitating your development teams can be a challenge due to the difference between app- and infrastructural knowledge.

The creation of a CCoE should ideally start together with the journey of transforming the IT landscape to cloud. In this case the CCoE can define the processes, principles and measures that need to be put in place during this transition project. This avoids that an initial cloud project misses the necessary governance to transition the project to the operational organisation. Based on our experience with setting up CCoEs the following first steps are:

  • Defining the platform migration strategy
  • Defining the workload onboarding process to the cloud environment
  • Setting up the financial governance of cloud costs
  • Ensuring the adequate security measures are in place
  • Defining the reference architecture for your organisation
