Meet our Tech Lead: Arjan Roos

Origin

Unlike Nick, Arjan has a technical background and studied Software Engineering in his hometown, Den Haag. Arjan has always had an affinity for IT and figured that Software Engineering was the best fit for him. During his education, he gained the necessary skills to start working as a Software Developer/Engineer but already knew that this was not his end goal. Through his part-time job as a customer support specialist at a phone provider, he also gained valuable experience working with people in various situations and mental states.

After graduation, Arjan started his IT career at Indivirtual as a junior Java Developer, working for customers and becoming familiar with cloud computing for the first time. In this role, Arjan discovered that being a developer was not something he wanted to do for the rest of his career. Due to a decrease in work at Indivirtual, Arjan received an offer to join the Azure Cloud Consultancy team at Sentia, which was part of the same mother organisation. After an initial project on a low-code platform, he was fully incorporated into the team, guided by one of the lead consultants, Jip.

The first project Arjan worked on in the Azure cloud taught him the foundation of what he knows today, both from a technical and a consultancy perspective. This initial project fueled his drive to become better and better in the cloud world, and Arjan grew to become one of the technical leads within the Sentia Consultancy department.

Besides becoming more technically skilled, Arjan also had the opportunity to teach and guide a group of trainees, helping them become self-sufficient. He excelled at this due to his own experience and genuine enjoyment of teaching.

Let's Try It Again

After his time at Sentia, Arjan joined the Wortell Professional Services department together with Nick as a Cloud Consultant. Besides bringing his skills to another company, Arjan quickly began guiding team members within Wortell and its customers to work with Cloud technology. In a very short time, Arjan positioned himself as a technical lead, guiding customers in their journey to and inside the cloud.

Feeling that this was not his final destination, Arjan's dream of starting a company was kickstarted. Arjan aims to ensure technical excellence is delivered while also providing room for learning and development.

Vision

One of the most impactful quotes Arjan uses in his day-to-day work is: “It is not the technology that does it; it is the people behind this technology that make a difference.” Delivering people-focused services is what makes Arjan stand out from any other cloud consultant in the market. He believes that it is essential to see customers as partners for a long-lasting relationship.

This people-oriented way of working, combined with Arjan’s drive for technical excellence, ensures that customers are not left with a somewhat working solution. Instead, they receive a neat technical solution along with trained people who can maintain and further develop it.

What's next?

With Arjan starting at GGM Consulting, he can utilise his full capabilities to achieve continuous value for the organisation and its partners. Currently, Arjan is actively supporting customers in their PaaS transformation, skilling employees, and guiding Azure engineers to work with a DevOps mindset.
