Business Update! Q2 - 2024
Besides all our service-related content, we also feel the importance in sharing a bit about 'our journey'. GGM Consulting goes in its third-month anniversary, which makes a fine moment to look back and reflect on our journey so far.

Since the end of last year, we've worked on all the necessary preparations for the start of GGM. We started with the foundation of our company by asking ourselves questions like:
- What are our company values and what do we believe in?
- What value do we want to create with our partners and how are we going to create services from those ideas?
Foundation
With the first drafts and initiatives, we pitched our ideas in our network, looking for feedback on how we thought we wanted to set up a consultancy business.
We had great responses and feedback. Not only was it valuable in further defining our ideas, but we were also directly asked to come over and talk about how we could help and start to work together. A great feeling and start!
Our original plan was to start in July 2024. All our appointments were already set up according to this roadmap. However, partners asked us if we could start 'next month.' That was in March of this year, so... we had our work cut out for us....
Paperwork
To start a company and actually begin working with your partners, you need some fundamental things. For example, a bank account, a KvK-number (Chamber of Commerce), contracts, etc. Things that we all know are not arranged within a couple of days. ?
One of these steps was the actual signing and foundation of GGM. An official moment that, due to Arjan's holiday, had to be postponed to April 14th, only two weeks before starting our first assignment. Now talking from experience, two weeks is extremely short to get everything in order, resulting in us almost working around the clock to get everything done.
And now you are an entrepreneur
On May 1st, we had our first operational day, working from our own consultancy business, which does not feel that different. The only difference is that you can advise partners from your personal perspective instead of having to follow the guidelines of the organisation you work for. Our main priority from this moment was to ensure the right value is delivered and to try to understand all the overhead items related to running a business.
There is a first for everything
The main realisation that occurred to us in our first month of GGM Consulting is that you have to do a lot of things for the first time. Some things that are fully organised when being an employee must be done by yourself when you are an entrepreneur. Think of defining your payslip, paying income taxes to the Belastingdienst, and dealing with lease car contracts – all now your full responsibility.
After the first month of hard work, we could finally send the first invoices, which gave the feeling of having a real company. Even though the feeling of this created value is amazing, it also brings new concerns and struggles. Can I pay my bills on time? Did I send over all the right payment details? Can I transfer salary at the right moment? These are all thoughts that we have had during the first few months, occasionally leading to a peak of stress.
Looking back on these first months
Considering all the stress the build of our company has given us, it is safe to say it was the right call to make. We love applying our vision to the challenges our partners have and we notice that we offer something special. Providing guidance to parties in their cloud journey with a strong technical background while considering people and processes creates the value our target partners are looking for. Right now, it is safe to say that it is a great success and we look forward to sharing more in the coming months on the ideas and plans we have made.
